One of the most important things I’ve realized in the last few weeks is that my time is limited.

There are plenty of things for me to spend my time on.

As a business owner, I’m constantly bombarded with things that are calling on me to do them.

There is always something urgent.

There is always something important.

Very often urgent does not equal important.

There is never enough time to do everything.

Yet there is always enough time to do what is important.

One of the first things I focus on is what I should not be doing.

Unimportant things are things that I should never do.

Why?

Because they are unimportant.

This week I started a do not do list.

As I’m working on something I ask myself the following questions.

Is this important?

Should I be doing this?

If the answer to both of these questions is no, then I add that item to my do not do list.

By ridding my life of unimportant items, I create more time for important items.
